Tacos Chiwas...yes, yes, I saw this on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, so I was in the area and thought, why not!?! Already impressed driving up here as they had a partially covered parking lot! Big plus in this scorching heat. As you walk in, you are greeted with their upbeat dance house music. They have a bar inside with tequila, on tap draft beer. They are short-staffed, so you order at the front, then pay, get your order number, and then find your table. Multiple tvs playing professional sports (MLB). A bit loud inside to be able to carry on a conversation. They have a patio area for outside dining and also mostly inside dining. The servers are friendly and welcoming! Gordita (Flour) - Deshebrada Roja: Red Chile Shredded Beef, Potatoes, Beans (3.5/5). The beef and potatoes were flavorful, spicy, and tender. Parts of the gordita were firm/dense/tough. I appreciated that it was house-made. Tacos (Handmade Corn Tortillas) Pastor: Marinated Pork, Cilantro, White Onions (4/5). It was very tasty, nicely marinated. I would get this again in a heartbeat. Tripas: Beef Tripe, Cilantro, White Onions (4/5). I liked that they deep-fried it, but some pieces were pretty dry. Otherwise, it was good. Both corn tortillas were cool, not warmed on the flat top. Horchata (4/5) - smooth, not chalky. You could enjoy the rice and cinnamon! They have a self-serve sauce bar, which they also have the pickled carrot, jalapeño, onion. Overall, experience 3.5 stars. Congratulations for being in business here in Phoenix for 8 years!!!

The price point for these tacos is fair considering other locations nearby. Their asada tacos and cabeza tacos are good and are a must try. This is not your typical street taco place.

They just don't disappoint. $3 street tacos and a cold beer after long day is just the way to go. The service is great and the music is perfect! If you've never been, I'm telling you to get over there!

Oh man. This place is a gem! We tried so many of their tacos. My fave was the lengua! Historically, I'm not a lengua fan (bad memories of when my grandma used to cook it. Sorry grams), but it is so tender and flavorful. I even liked it more than the carnitas! The corn in a cup was delicious. The Deshebrada de Gordita was also a hit. The salad was refreshing with a zingy lime dressing. The next time I'm in town, this is the first place I'm visiting!

As seen on Netflix, tacos chiwas in Phoenix is a unique place filled with loads of authentic Mexican food to choose from! Known for their asada, tacos chiwas, combined with its excellent guest service, will definitely have you salivating for more. Although the asada isn't my favorite, still good, the lengua is where the magic is at! I ordered 2 lengua and 2 asada! The flavor profiles will definitely have your taste buds dancing around. A must try is the michelada! They're so damn good! There is plenty of parking and the prices aren't too expensive, I spent roughly 25 dollars on 4 tacos and a michelada. I hope you all give Tacos Chiwas a try! Enjoy fellow yelpers
